Want to become a yoga teacher? This training
is 12 consecutive weeks of approximately 20 hours per week and will prove
to be demanding, fulfilling and transformative! It is an ideal course
for people who wish to acquire new skills toward a rewarding new career,
as either a full-time or part-time yoga instructor.
Yoga has come of age and the number of people who practice yoga has increased
three-fold in the last decade. As more and more people embrace yoga, there
is an increasing demand for certified teachers. Yoga teaching has become
one of the fastest growing professions in North America.
If you have discipline, dedication and a passion for yoga then our Fast
Track teacher training program is for you.
Since 2008 The Yoga Sanctuary has been a Certified Private
Educational Institute with the federal government. We are a fully accredited
Yoga Teacher Training school. This 250 hour Yoga Teacher Training is registered
and recognized with Yoga Alliance RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) of the
United States and the 200 hour Canadian Yoga Alliance CYT (Certified Yoga
Teacher). Our training program exceeds the requirements of both organizations.
Graduates will receive an official Tuition Fee and Education Textbook
Credit receipt. If you want further information, see the Information for
Students from Canada Revenue Agency, about Tuition, Education and Textbook
amounts.
This 250 hour yoga teacher training course covers the details
and adjustments of each posture in the Primary Series of Ashtanga yoga
and the use of these postures as the basis for a flowing Hatha, Vinyasa
or Heated yoga class.
Meditation, Yoga Therapy, Sanskrit, Chanting,
Anatomy, Physiology and Yoga Philosophy will be taught. In addition
to the 14 hours of lecture time each weekend, students are required to
attend 24 public classes, 8 observation classes (no class pass required)
and 28 open practice classes during the training period, to meet the course
requirements.
Each student will be given unlimited
class passes, that may be used at any of our studio locations,
while in the teacher training program. These passes will only be accepted
within the time frame of this course and expire on the last day of the
program.
The successful completion of this 250-hour course qualifies
you to find an entry-level position as a Certified
Yoga Teacher and gives you all the foundations of learning to guide
and instruct others. A Certificate is granted
upon satisfactory completion of the course.

Hali
Schwartz
Hali has been immersed in the world of yoga practice since 1988 when she
began her first of many travels to the Himalayas, India. It was there
that she was introduced to the rich textures of yoga philosophy as they
relate to personal development.
She has since continued to study and practice at The International Meditation
Institute in Kullu, India, returning every 1-2 years since 1988.
The course of her studies has focused strongly on the ancient Sanskrit
language; the various yoga scriptures such as the Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali's
Yoga Sutra; as well as chanting from the Vedas, Upanishads, and the verses
from the above mentioned yoga texts.
Karen
Cove
Karen has dedicated her life to both the practice and teaching of yoga.
She combines an advanced understanding of anatomy and sequencing with
a deep compassion for her students. Her classes are designed with precision
and attention to detail, but her immense love of yoga creates an environment
that is fun and welcoming.
Karen completed her first yoga teacher training at the Yoga Sanctuary
and has gone on to completer other teacher training with teachers such
as Hart Lazer. She has been assisting Yoga Sanctuary director Cynthia
Funk with the studio's teacher training for four years and is part of
the faculty for the advanced teacher training.
Cynthia
Funk
Cynthia is the co-owner of The Yoga Sanctuary. She received her Yoga Teacher
Training Certificate at Yoga Works in Los Angeles, studying under the
tutelage of Maty Ezraty, Chuck Miller, Eddie Modestini and Erich Schiffmann.
Cynthia began teaching in the greater Toronto area in 1997, teaching in
public schools, hospitals, private and public gyms, as well as leading
retreats on Ward's Island and in Northern Ontario. In 2000, Cynthia studied
in New York City and Boulder, Colorado with Ashtanga guru, Sri K. Pattabhi
Jois. That same year she completed an Ashtanga Teacher Training with David
Swenson.
As well, Cynthia studied extensively with Toronto teacher Esther Myers.
She has been blessed to have studied with many of the other senior Ashtanga
Yoga teachers in North America. For the past 7 years Cynthia has taught
The Yoga Sanctuary, Yoga Teacher Training 250 hour courses.
