Breath
is life. It is also the bridge between our
minds and our bodies. In this workshop, you
will learn how to balance your moods and your
thoughts through refining your awareness of
breath. You will learn both calming and energizing
pranayama practices, and study the anatomy
of the respiratory system and its relation
to Yoga.
Some
of the pranayamas covered will be nadi shodhanam,
ujjayi, kapalabhati. We will also address
bandhas (energy seals) and their relationship
to pranayama and asanas. We will apply pranayama
to asana practice, in both stillness and in
flowing sequence (vinyasa) and we will experience
how meditation flows naturally from the breath.
We
will also cover where and how to teach these
practices in your classes.
Neti
(nasal wash) instruction will be included
in this program. Neti cleanses the nasal passages,
supports our immune systems, and prepares
us for ease in breathing and meditation. In
light of flu season and H1N1 concerns, this
practice is indispensable! BYONP (bring your
own neti pot) or let us know if you need to
purchase one.
